On a recent Friday, we decided to investigate Beargrass Creek before taking some Male High School students there on a kayaking field trip. Access is fairly easy. We put in at the U of L Rowing facility which is on River Road just east of Tumbleweed restaurant. I think there is also [...] A friend and I took the kayaks from Aiken Road to the Fisherville canoe launch Saturday. Flow was only 350 cfs which is about half what I consider a challenging level. It was still a lot of fun, as the narrow channels give lots of turning practice. We were almost to Fisherville [...] Met up with an acquaintance early this morning for paddling. Not only does his backyard border Harrods Creek, but he has two wooden kayaks he built himself. Thanks to his kindness, I got to paddle a new boat and visit a new place: Garvin Brown Nature Preserve. Originally planned for Floyds Fork, we decided that a flow of 65 CFS would be too much canoe dragging and portaging. We decided to take our flotilla of canoes and kayaks to Harrods Creek instead.
