When Outside Magazine named Louisville, Kentucky one of its “Best Towns 2008,” I was pleasantly surprised.
I’ve been fortunate to live in some pretty cool towns, Raleigh, NC and Austin, TX among them, and believe Louisville is rapidly rising among the best. When it comes to outdoor adventures it is already a great place.
Looking for outdoor activities for this coming weekend? Check the Event Calendar.
Looking for outdoor trip reports, interviews with local players in the outdoors scene, outdoor gear reviews, and more outdoor adventure news? Check out the “Archives” and “Categories” tabs on the right or use the “Search” box in the upper right corner.
Local organizations offering outdoor recreation or just all around making Louisville a better place to live are found in Links. If in need of a good read or interesting film, visit the Outdoors Bookstore.
LouisvilleOutside aims to be your one-stop shop for discovering fun outdoor experiences in the Louisville region. Day-hiking, canoeing, caving, and outdoor photography are some of my favorite activities. We’ll also cover kayaking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking and many other outdoor sports. Of course, I can’t cover it all, which is why I hope this site becomes about “we” rather than “me.” I welcome input from readers! Visit the Submissions page to learn how you can contribute. Lastly, if you feel so inspired, please buy a book from the site or donate a buck using the links in the left column. If the site generates a few dollars, I can rationalize buying that waterproof camera I’ve had my eyes on….
